OSG CHOIR FOR THE COMMUNITY IN ECUADOR
The OSG Choir was founded by Maestro Dante Santiago Anzolini in 2018 with the vision of offering a diverse repertoire, including choral works, and with the aim of showcasing the vocal talent of Guayaquil residents. Auditions were offered every week to any applicant who was interested. Music reading was not required. The audition comprised a song chosen by the applicant, plus a vocalization.
The choir has participated in OSG opera productions and symphonic-choral concerts, as well as world and local premieres.
Rehearsals were held from the choir’s inception on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the OSG headquarters, the Eloy Alfaro Civic Center Theater. With the arrival of the pandemic in March 2020, rehearsals were conducted via Zoom on the same days and times. Solfège classes were offered on weekly basis. The choir recorded a 13th Century Hymn on their cellulars. The recordings were mixed and edited for its released through the orchestra’s website and social nets.
Participation in the choir, including rehearsals and instruction on vocal technique, music reading, music solfège and theory was free of charge, and open to all citizens of Guayaquil.
